Kwara NUJ Correspondents’ Chapel reiterates election sacrosanct, fills vacant post

The Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kwara State Council, on Friday confirmed Ibrahim Alagunmun of Gbelegbo Newspaper as the Chapel’s new Assistant Secretary during an emergency Congress held at its Secretariat in Ilorin.

The meeting, led by the newly elected Chairman, Alhaji Biola Azeez, was well attended and focused on important administrative issues.

Aside from Alagunmun’s affirmation through a bye-election, the Congress also witnessed the official swearing-in of Comrade Ibrahim Alege of Television Continental (TVC), who was absent during the general election held on November 1, 2025.

Both Alagunmu and Alege took their oaths of office during the session.

A three-man communiqué committee, headed by Alhaji Mansur Aramide of The Guardian, confirmed that Chairman Biola Azeez conducted the oath-taking ceremony.

Meanwhile, the Congress unanimously expressed full confidence and support for the Chapel’s Executive Committee, promising total cooperation to help the leadership carry out its duties effectively.

Other members of the communiqué committee are Nicholas Uwerunonye of Daily Independent (Secretary) and Mosunmola Ayobami of Western Post.
